There has been a lot of talk about how certain foods, diets and exercise can help cure COVID-19. If this were true, wouldn’t the world be free from this never-ceasing pandemic?
Nutrition Expert, Kripa Jalan recently took to Instagram to share her thoughts on these so-called miracle cures. This is what she had to say, “Just a few hours ago, a friend sent me a post that spoke about a diet plan to cure the virus. While my first instinct was to ask the creator for evidence – I refrained from doing so, because I do not like to argue on social media. A well informed and respectful debate? Sure, I welcome that!”
However, Jalan warns that whatever she has written in her post is her opinion backed by the research she’s done and that it is not meant to “throw shade at” or offend anybody. She further explains, “To be clear, I’m all for lifestyle medicine. I’m also of the school of thought that while conventional medicine is great at keeping you alive when you’re in the hospital – lifestyle medicine will prevent you from needing to go into critical care in most cases. I genuinely believe that food, movement, and meditation are the cornerstones of a healthy and joyous life. Without a doubt, they will keep your immune system supported, up and running. But God forbid, you have been infected – it’s vital to follow medical protocol under the guidance of a practitioner. Alternative medicine is important – but for now, a humble request; please follow the evidence.”
It’s true isn’t it? Although food and exercise both have the power to heal, they aren’t a cure, especially not for coronavirus. Healthy food and exercise, can help you build a shield against diseases, infections and malaise, but it shouldn’t replace the advice of your doctor.
Remember, the best cure against COVID-19 is to wear a mask, wash your hands, maintain social distancing and sanitize whenever necessary.
Stay safe!
